The Rule of Law
Not the Rule of Man! The Rule of Law is the central principal upon which our constitution is developed. Our system of checks and balances, separation of powers, the foundation of our individual rights, due process and civil rights all emanate from this defining principal.
It is this theme which will drive my Civics curriculum this year. One of my Favorite presidents once said.
"No man is above the law and no man is below it; nor do we ask any man's permission when we require him to obey it.""Obedience to the law is demanded as a right; not asked as a favor." Teddy Roosevelt

World GeographyWe are starting our third unit on North America.
OK!! I KNOW! It is labeled "Unit 4"! That's because in the past it was the fourth unit I taught. I am skipping my usual 3rd unit , Economic geography. I'll be including the economic principals in each of the Continental units from hear on out. As it is, I don't really want to go and rename all my files so I am just sticking to the current nomenclature. Look forward to some fun stuff in this unit, including the music project! Very cool. I also spend a lot of time on Canada because our Canadian neighbors know more about us than we do of them. Please be sure to check the Blog, calendar and WG page daily. There may or may not be changes daily, but the habit will be worthwhile. |
